New licenses, facilities and personnel offer advanced connectivity to meet energy demand in the region
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — May 16, 2023 — Speedcast, a leading IT and communications service provider, today announced that it has significantly expanded its presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as major changes in the energy market expand opportunities for Middle Eastern manufacturers. Speedcast has long provided communications services to customers through national partners. With requirements in Saudi Arabia and across the region increasing exponentially, Speedcast has made significant progress in this important market by obtaining its Internet Service Provider License from the CST. The company now intends to complement this with additional licenses and permits, which will enable operations and provision of services within the Kingdom.
Speedcast’s new national teleportation facility, which will include office and warehouse space, is under construction to house an iDirect hub, and the company is recruiting management and field services personnel to provide installation, operations and maintenance nationwide.
« Licensing to provide services in Saudi Arabia will add significant strength and flexibility to our efforts and enable us to serve our customers more effectively, » said Joe Spytek, CEO of Speedcast. “This milestone sets the stage for our plans to expand across the region to further meet demands as business increases. This includes expanding our presence in key markets in the Middle East, investing in people and platforms locally to serve our valued customers there. »
Saudi Arabia is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, driven by recent pro-business reforms and rising oil prices. The country is currently the world’s second largest producer of oil and one of the top 10 producers of natural gas. Last year, Saudi Arabia’s public oil and natural gas company announced plans to double the number of offshore and onshore drilling units by 2024.
